Breaking Bread Ministries (BBM)
Breaking Bread Ministries started with a dream and a desire to help others. A need was recognized within our community and we sought a way to help. The food pantry was started. We had the support of two congregations within the church with donations of canned goods and staples. It was a small pantry at first, and has steadily grown! We started with helping five-eight families weekly, as well as delivering to local migrant workers. There are now over 150 people benefiting from fresh fruit and vegetables, canned goods, dairy products each week. There is enough food given to plan many nutritious meals, supplementing the food budget.
We have partnered with two church food pantries. Plus, we also receive food boxes from the Oregon Food Bank.
The sense of community is strong, with volunteers getting to know the guests that arrive each week. Not only have we gotten to know our neighbors, the congregation has grown closer while providing a service to many. Our food pantry serves members of the community Friday afternoons from 2-4 pm, except for holidays. Our volunteers faithfully serve each week to assist in feeding our neighbors.
The pantry is now held in the Lee Perry Fellowship Hall. New photos to arrive soon :)
